Canon EOS 60D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) + Tripod, Cleaning Set Review

I was using a Nikon D90 and decided to change to Canon... the 60D was my choice.

I've been playing with this camera since 2 months ago and I just love it! I can only compare it with my old Nikon 90 because its the only DLSR I had in the past...

I know that to compare these two cameras is not fair, but this is my personal situation.

The build of the camera is great, being able to move the screen is also a great option. The quality of the pictures is awesome, the adjusts you can make... everything is great, I just love this camera.

Before buying this camera I saw lots of video reviews, and people sometimes were very hard with this camera saying that the shutter was noisy, or things like that... BUT if you come from a Nikon D90 or lower, you will love this camera.

I dont have a compaint so far... everything works perfect, I even had a photoshoot where we had a little rain.. and the weather seal worked perfect...

I'm not a pro, but I recommend this Camera for sure.

Parasound - Classic 2100 Stereo Preamp

Price: $550.00 $540.00

Product Feature

• Two channel high end audio preamplifier
• 7 pairs of line level inputs
• 1 input pair can be switched for MM or MC phono cartridge with correct input impedance
• Can add to an existing surround system to upgrade analog two-channel sound
• Parasound 3 year parts, 3 years labor warranty

Product Description

Parasound's NewClassic Model 2100 is a versatile two-channel preamplifier that's equally expert with venerable and modern technology, from vinyl to MP3. A low-noise phono input provides the correct gain and load for both MM and MC cartridges. The Model 2100 also enables you to upgrade your present surround sound system for serious two-channel, audiophile-quality listening. Left, right, and sub bypass jacks make it simple to use the Model 2100 and your surround sound receiver in the same system, even if your system has a subwoofer and small left and right speakers. This great feature lets you keep the 2100 directly in the signal chain and play either stereo or surround sound without messing with wires. Automatic pass-through is activated as soon as you turn off the 2100. And bypass input can be selected via remote. Built-in subwoofer control is another key feature. Parasound really thought of it all with the Model 2100. An adjustable subwoofer crossover provides analog bass management for your stereo sources, and you can adjust the subwoofer level on the front panel. Also included are separate output jacks for full range (large speakers), and 80 Hz high pass filtered (small speakers). This lets you push only frequencies about 80 Hz to your satellite speakers, without needing an expensive external crossover.

Parasound - Classic 2100 Stereo Preamp Review

This preamp replaced an old C-26 McIntosh and I'm lovin it. Offers all I need to run my two amp (mid/hi) and (sub) set up. Like the input capacity and tonal controls. Do recommend a small led on the volume knob for reference when adjusting long range via remote. Otherwise, for the money this is a perfect fit for my modest system.

Toshiba 55G300U 55-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV (Black Gloss) Review

I received this 55" Toshiba TV today from Amazon. I did a lot of comparisons, with the most-popular brands (in person and online) before deciding on this purchase. I have an old CRT Toshiba TV that's still going strong, so I thought I would research their LCDs as well. The picture is stunning, and Blu-ray movies are amazingly crisp and fluid. The sound is average, but that's not a deal-breaker for me because I hooked it up to my BOSE home theater system. I got a great price, free shipping with white-glove delivery, and saved a couple hundred dollars over the "popular" brand I was planning to buy. I highly recommend it.

Samsung UN46D6050 Review

The most phenomenal color in both range and depth, I have ever known of.

There aren't enough outputs in the back. Having only one Audio output is problematic for people who desire more freedom.
Plus all of the input and outputs require the included adapters, except for the HDMI plugs.
The adapters are strange, non-standard and unalike from eachother.
These adapters "cannot" be found in stores as well.

Oh, and you "can" turn off the motion plus feature. This feature speeds up all programs running through the television. It's so very annoying. Some feeble attempt to make it seem more real or something.

If you can hook the television up without breaking anything and then leave it alone, you will be very impressed with the picture quality.

Every movie you have ever watched will need to be re-watched on this television.

I am so happy with this television that I actually feel guilty when just listening to movies while doing other things.

By the way, you can save $500.00 by purchasing this television at Costco.

Sony Bravia W-Series KDL-40W4100 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV Review

After doing the research, we decided on this tv because it fit the bill with the 120 refresh rate, the latest technology with 1080p, etc. It arrived this morning and after maybe 10 minutes of careful unpacking and attaching the pedestal to the screen it was up and running.

Our jaws were on the floor at how amazingly beautiful it is. The clarity is stunning and 40 inches turned out to be a good size. Its big enough to appreciate the big game or a blu-ray movie, but not so ostentatious that you can't use it everday for the news and regular programming.

We did some shopping around first and Best Buy as of 6/30/08 wanted $1899 for this tv, oh and don't forget to add tax which is 9% here. All said and done we saved close to $400 by purchasing it on Amazon which makes it seem like we got the Playstation 3 that we also ordered for free.

All said and done, it is showstopping even when it isn't on. The EnergyStar endorsement is a bonus also considering that larger tvs are notorious energy consumers.

About The Seller: OneCall
With a large purchase such as this, I was a little reluctant to buy a tv over the internet. The price couldn't be beat though.

Within 12 hours I had an email from their company notifying me of their shipping policies and within 24 hours another email with detailed tracking information. All of this was also followed up by a personal phone call from a company representative that kept me in the loop. My tv was shipped by ABF based on a scheduled appointment that was set up ahead of time. OneCall encourages you to call your motor freight company that they assign if they don't call you first.

Ok, key things to know about my shipping experience with this tv-
- Again, tv was shipped by motor freight for CURBSIDE delivery. Meaning that he lowered it to the curb and my husband and I carried it into the house. It wasn't heavy at all, but needed two people because of the size of the box.
- Company would only accept return of the tv in the event that it was damaged during shipping. When you sign off on the bill of lading, you are instructed beforehand in the emails to note any scuffs, dents or otheriwse damage to the original packing. There was nothing wrong with my television even though there were a few small scuffs on the box and they were noted.
- The tv box came equipped with ShockWatch stickers that were to turn red if the box had been impacted or was mishandled, dropped etc. The stickers were clear on my box, so they took good care of it from the time of shipping to arrival at my curb.

All in all the service was great, the tv works and looks fantastic and I highly reccomend both.

____________UPDATE__8/28/10______________________________________________________________

2 years and one new house later, this tv is still amazingly beautiful and I'm highly considering buying another one for the guest room upstairs.

Gitzo GT3541LS Series 3 Long 6X Carbon Fiber 4-Section Systematic Tripod with G-Lock - Replaces GT3540LS Review

UPDATED and corrected 27 Jan 2011: I needed a tripod that would give steady support for my pro body + 500mm + Wimberley head -- and still be lightweight and compact enough to fit in a 25" suitcase. The Gitzo 3541LS fit the bill (Closed length = 21.7", weight 3.7 lb). The max extended height is 57.5". If you are over 6 ft tall* it may give you a backache, especially if you're doing a lot of bird flight photography. The 3541XLS extends to 78" max, but only collapses to 27.6" and weighs 4.0 lb and won't fit into a 25" suitcase. If you're over 6 ft, you may want to consider the XLS. These are very expensive tripods, but for the serious photographer, they're worth every penny.

[*I mistakenly wrote 'If you're over 58"' in my original version of this post, and have now corrected it to "If you're over 6 ft".... I apologize for the goof.]

I do like my G3541LS, and prefer it to the XLS because its smaller collapsed length/weight is better for air travel and the torsional flex in shorter tripod legs is somewhat less. Even at my shortish 68" height, the occasional long, intensive high-angle shoot with a 500mm on the LS can be tough on the back and neck, but I'm willing to live with it -- and so is my chiropractor :)). High-angle is not the best steadiness practice anyway.

By the way, a year or two ago, it was reported that the Gitzo Systematic Series tripod platform can pull out of its mounting ring if the tightening bolt loosens. This could cause a bad crash while you're shouldering your rig. Aftermarket safety retainer plates are now available for about $65. I made one from 3/16" marine ply and a stainless bolt, and it works fine.
