I wanted a cabinet that would match my white wooden fireplace. After several searches I narrowed it down to this cabinet. I read many reviews of Home Styles furniture, so I wanted to add my two cents.
First of all, this is a heavy, sturdy piece of furniture. At this price point you typically get a light, laminated MDF piece of junk, so I was extremely pleased with the overall quality.
The furniture comes well packed with multiple layers of protection, and with the exception of a very small nick, it was in perfect shape.
The instruction set is minimal but clear, and there are extra pieces of hardware so that you have a few spares.
Once assembled, the furniture looks very good. I have seen several pieces of furniture costing twice as much that did not look nearly as good.
The reasons why I gave it 4 stars instead of five is that the assembly proved more tricky than necessary. I am very used to assemble my own furniture and quite handy, but this piece of furniture proved more challenging than most. The holes positioning tolerance is at the limits of allowing you to put this together, and a couple of times I had to disassemble parts and re-align screws to get them to match the groves. The side panels proved to be the most tricky, although I was grateful at the end of how it looked (no exposed screws, it looks really a much higher end console).
I assembled it by myself, so my advise is get somebody to help you: I am sure with two people it would have gone a lot smoother.
The other reason why I did not give it 5 stars is because of the handles. They are heavy metal and look beautiful once installed, but the screws provided are a poor match for them and low quality, resulting in a almost guaranteed stripped screw and not fully tightened handle on the door (it spins a little).
Overall though, I would buy it again.
