I recently purchased the Klipsch SW310 and I love the tight bass which is perfect for music lovers.

My friend have the RW12D which was huge and powerful bass. Initially I was planning to buy that from Newegg. But when I saw this sub for $499, it was a no brainer deal.

There are few difference between RW12D and SW310. The SW310 has 2 passive radiator while the RW12D has a ported design. I found the ports to muddle the bass a bit on the 12D at high volume, and I think ported design is good for home theater setup. I found that the SW310 performed much better for music. The second difference would be size, as the RW12D is much larger and heavy than the SW310 while performing in the same frequency range. The SW310 seemed to outperform the RW12D in every way despite its tiny cabinet and woofer size. Both these subs both run on BASH hybrid amplifiers which are far more efficient than the more commonly used class D switching amps.

The sub is still in break in period and I already love the tight bass. My setup consists of a Denon 3312, Klipsch RF52 II, RC52 II, SW310. Will add a RS42 II or RS41 II soon. Frequency response is pretty astounding and the bass is incredibly accurate. I really needed a sub that could perform well for HT setup and music, and this sub excels at both.

For HT mode you might have to increase the gain control a bit more to get room shaking bass. Overall an excellent subwoofer
